I’m a big advocate for having your own plan yet mixing it up with a class can do you good! Joining a class once or twice a week, keeps you accountable and tests the boundaries of your current fitness level.
After leaving my beloved downtown Chicago Equinox to move to downtown Los Angeles in 2009, I was relieved to discover these two gems in the neighborhood, Rita Chan and Kristie La Tray!
First of all, show up early! This girl’s class is popular. Rita cheers you on with new music mixes, new moves and completely new class formats every time you come in. She is funny, trains along side you and corrects your form. I have seen good and I know she is GREAT!
Since I began taking her class, she has had two children and the girl’s stamina and physique is unstoppable! After taking her class on a Thursday, your body is still feeling that into the weekend. Let it BURN!
Be sure to be there on time so you can grab your preferred weights. This class is high intensity along with weights so message to the men, try not to go as heavy as you do in the weights area but if you can, more power to you! Message to the ladies, you will get your dance on but don’t miss out by picking up pom poms! Challenge yourself! She will give a modification move when you wear yourself out. Get strong! Every class, try to outdo your last!
Count on her Nike Fit Club class for:
And if you survive, get your shake on with whatever favorite recovery drink you prefer. Everyone pushes as fierce as he or she can. Get yours! Check it out!

Grab your water bottle, towel and just you wait until she shows up through that door! You are in for it! Kristie LaTray teaches Spin at Yas in Downtown LA. Also, a popular instructor for her music mixes, you can tell immediately that this girl is a lean, mean fitness queen!
I was missing spin class as an alternative post-work cardio. When I took Kristie’s class, I appreciated she was friendly and helpful to make sure I had proper fit and form on the standing bike as well as paid attention to whether I was increasing the speed or resistance on the dial. People cheat in there, you know? Kristie truly wants you to be challenged and endure!
Thank God her class has such fun music themes so it gives you something other than the huffing and puffing to look forward to. So turn it up! Know that Kristie will put you in check if you don’t give it all you’ve got!
