Whether you are running or lifting, have a plan! I tried out a few Bodybuilding.com plans this year. Here is my take on that!
Having a plan gives you:
1) Ability to see in advance your desired end result
2) Provides you the exact moves to follow when you are too exhausted to improvise
3) Starting point for adding new challenges and resource for getting challenge done based on machine availability at the gym
4) A way to track your progress and strategy for high, low, and maximum reps as well as effectiveness of nutrition
5) A project has a beginning and an end. Having a 4-12wk plan gives you something to celebrate!
As a professional trainer, I meet my clients, assess their goals and create a plan in advance. We show up, I follow the plan and my gift is being able to customize challenges in context with my clients. In college, my Spanish professor who knew my aspirations to teach tipped me off on this magic,
“Allyncia, have a plan! In addition to that, a good teacher always carries an extra bag of tricks!”
I do all this research, planning and sharing new moves so you don’t have to!
Here are a list of plans I have followed from Bodybuilding.com this year:
Jaime Eason’s LiveFit Trainer
Kris Gethin DTP
Kris Gethin 12 Week Trainer
Jim Stoppani Shortcut to Shred
Jim Stoppani Shortcut to Size
David Kingsbury program for Hugh Jackman “Develop Mutant Strength”
Sure! These workouts for me are like picking up a good book except I’m ripped when I finish. As a trainer, having a great curriculum foundation makes it easy to just show up and get it done. As a busy professional with many talents and interests, you need not become a fanatic like me yet you can get these results! Just like the books on human relations I use to create my corporate training programs, I read them all so you don’t have to! Of course, when I make my lessons, I do not follow just any script yet draw from programs, fitness websites and even moves I see on Instagram, Pinterest or at the gym so when you train with me, I’ve done all the move research for you and I follow best practices of National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM.) so we can safely avoid injury and promote custom results.
Many of the Bodybuilding.com programs are not for beginners according to the tested and true OPT model advocated by NASM, an organization that uses science, studies and expertise to prevent injury, achieve proven results with correct progression for each individual’s goals. My custom programs for clients are not based or dependent on body building websites so to train with me, I assess your fitness and map out the best plan for your goals in a safe, efficient and creative way. I have no shame in sharing online trainers with you and love this site and getting ideas from my favorite fitness icons. Still, I am LIVE Tiger Trainer and it is my pleasure and passion to bring that out in you.
The nutrition plans are sound yet as a NASM Nutrition Specialist, I will have to recommend caution and case-by-case consideration regarding the best supplementation plan that fits you. Now, its always up to you to do what you feel ready for and follow someone else’s ideas. Well, then you don’t need me. As your Tiger Trainer, I will assess, monitor and track what is the most successful nutrition plan for your goals and the state of your current health. Nicole Wilkins, 3 time Olympian Figure champion once said something along the lines, “If you are going to follow a program, listen to one coach and give it time to take effect before giving up and mixing in your own interpretation or some other trainer’s ideas. You can’t follow two different program strategies at once and expect it to work.”
